Payment cards

Payment card is a convenient and modern tool for keeping cash, withdrawing cash and making payments. With a card, you can pay for day-to-day and larger purchases at points of sale and on the web, withdraw cash at ATMs as well as show your status. Using a card for payments, you will have easier control over your budget: all your transactions will be reflected in your account statement on Swedbank Internet Banking. Just choose the one you find suitable and enjoy the conveniences of having the right payment card in your wallet.

There are two types of payment cards: debit cards and credit cards. Both can be used for similar purposes. However, in some situations a debit card will be more suited and vice versa.

Debit card is the best solution for:

• making day-to-day purchases, for example, paying at a grocery store or a petrol station;
• making purchases on the Internet (no fee on purchases at Latvian web stores) if you do not require additional funds;
• cash withdrawals.

Credit card is the best solution for:

• making larger planned or spontaneous purchases, as they will be covered by purchase insurance;
• making purchases on foreign web stores (inter alia flight tickets if the airline does not have an office in Latvia), as there is no fee for purchases;
• travelling, as there is no fee for purchases made abroad;
• when you need additional funds, for example for making a larger payment, as a credit limit is available.
